Commercial art has been a lifelong interest of Sugar’s, ever since he started drawing Chevy insignias with “dog” and “cat” inside of them - “I couldn’t spell Chevrolet,” he explains. Years of experience as a commercial artist and degrees in both literary and visual arts have enabled Sugar to attract such clients as the Kennedy Center, local universities and major local performing artists. He also teaches design at American University.
Sugar’s approach at the seminar on September 30 will depend partly on the direction the participants desire. He expects to talk about both general and specific design strategies, and he encourages participants to bring samples of their materials for criticism.

Cadet Andrews
Jonathan David Andrews has been promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant at, Randolph-Macon Academy. Cadet Andrews, who was earlier chosen for the school’s cadre, is a member of its Virginia 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Cadet Andrews has also been selected as the Cadet Group Athletic NCOIC for the 1988-89 school year.
He is a junior at the academy, which is located in Front Royal. Cadet Andrews is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger D. Andrews of Washington.
