Local residents interested in helping families of an Alzheimer’s victim are invited to come to a day of training on Oct. 14. Those who successfully complete the training program will be matched with a family in their community who needs a few hours away from the demands of constant care of a confused patient.
Although the program is administered through the local Retired Senior Volunteer Program, volunteers of any age are eligible for this program. They’ll be covered by special liability insurance and reimbursed for miles to and from an assigment. They won’t be required to do any personal care or house work only to provide temporary, sporadic companionship for a confused and lonely person.
