Airbrush demonstration
Middle Street Gallery is sponsoring a free airbrush demonstration by commercial artist Steve Wagner Thursday, Feb. 9, (Please note change from Jan. 26) at 8 p.m. Wagner’s illustrations have appeared in The Washington Post and numerous international publications. The demonstration will take place at Sycamore Hill, the Wagner residence just east of Washington on Route 211. It is free of charge and open to the public. Call 675-3627 for information.

Tai Chi Chuan classes
A new beginners’ class will start March 1 for Tai Chi Chuan. Classes run from 7-8 p.m. at The Child Care and Learning Center and cost is $30 per month. Call 636-3078 to register as space is limited.
Lenten series begins Feb. 15
Five of the county’s churches have joined together to sponsor a series of interdenominational Lenten services, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 15. It will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, beginning with a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. A short, inspirational lesson titled “Fasting and Prayer” will be delivered by the Rev. Merlin Shorb following the supper. Baby-sitting will be available, and the public is invited to attend. The sponsoring churches are Trinity Episcopal, Washington Baptist, St. Peter’s Catholic Mission, Rappahannock’s United Methodist parish and Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church.
CPR classes set
Two cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes will be held at the Washington fire hall next week. One class will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and Thursday, Feb. 16 from 7-10 p.m. The other will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The free classes are open to the public, and end with a Red Cross certification test in CPR.
