In other action, the board:
• decided to delay until next month making any additional appointments to the Social Services Board.
• voted to advertise for the position of Gypsy Moth Coordinator, a part-time position to be paid for by $1,200 in county funds matched by $4,800 from the Department of Agriculture.
• voted to pay $1,500 as a retainer for a consultant to explore finding a lower-cost alternative to the group health insurance presently offered to county employees. *
• appointed Hampton District Supervisor Mike Massie as the board’s representative to the Extension Office Advisory Committee.
• decided to include a public hearing on granting real estate tax relief to the elderly and disabled with limited income and limited resources on the agenda for its March meetinng.
• authorized Mr. McCarthy and Mr. Massie to represent the board in negotiating with the Town of Washington with regard to county office space and the disposition of real estate. This has to do with the issue of making use of the current county library once a new library is built.
• adopted a resolution congratulating State Sen. Kevin G. Miller, R26th, on his selection as minority party whip.
• appointed Fanning Baumgardner Deputy Emergency Services Coordinator.
• reappointed Col. E.P. Luke as the citizen representative to the Planning District 9’s District Commission.
