Logging meeting Feb. 21
A dinner meeting to discuss the future of logging in Virginia will be held at 6 p.m., Feb. 21, at the Amissville fire hall. Sponsored by the logging industry and the Virginia Department of Forestry, the series of meetings is designed to familiarize loggers with “Best Management 1 Practices.” Voluntary BMPs, a forestry department spokesman said, if implemented by all loggers, will be more efficient and economical than the mandatory regulations which may be imposed if harmful practices are not curtailed. Poetry series begins Feb. 21
The Rappahannock County Library's innovative “Voices and Visions” poetry series will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 21 and continue every two weeks through Tuesday, April 11. Made possible by a grant from ( the American Library Association and the National Endowment for , the Humanities, the series will consider the works of five great 20th- ■ century poets: William Carlos Williams, T.S. Eliot, Langston Hughes, Elizabeth Bishop and Sylvia Plath. Award-winning poet and George < Mason University professor Peter Klappert will lead audience dis- < cussions about these poets. Each program will include a movie about the poet’s life and work, to be shown on the library’s new large-screen , video.
