Much of the support in favor of the Governor’s bill comes from these Northern Virginia residents who continue to request more and more transportation funding from the state to solve their traffic gridlock problems. Anyone who has driven the roads and highways up there knows firsthand just how big a problem they have.
But as much as some of our neighbors in Northern Virginia wait with grateful anticipation for the extra millions they believe will come to them to solve their current and ftir ture transportation problems, the Senate’s bill would expire in five years — thereby leaving them false hope that the entire problem will be solved.
It is difficult to determine at this time just how much of Gov. Balile^’ trial balloon is going to become a lead ballon. I can tell you that we in the House are going to be thorough in our scrutiny in the coming weeks before the session adjourns.
