Editor’s note: The following report was written by those girls from Cadette Girl Scout Troop 380 who went to the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20: Emmy Bailey, Janet Hitt, Kelly Lawler, Jerri Mallory, Karen Moore, Veronica Myers, Angela Pullen, Johanna Tole and Cindi Welch.
Going to Washington, D.C., was a thrilling experience, but it was very cold and crowded. We stayed at the Days Inn in Manas* sas- When we first arrived there, we were assigned roommates and were given super magnetic keys. We met other Girl Scouts from Culpeper, Charlottesville, Orange, Louisa and Madison.
After all our excitement about marching in the Inaugural Parade, our leaders burst our bubbles and told us we would not be marching. Even though we were all disappointed, we went on to have two exciting days.
Friday morning started very early at 5:30 a.m. We left the motel at 7 a.m. and arrived at the Pentagon Station to ride the Metro. The Metro was so crowded we had to stand the whole way. We stood at the bell tower waiting for our tickets for the Inauguration for two whole hours. While we were waiting,
