Kindergarten registration
Registration for all children planning to attend kindergarten at Rappahannock County Elementary School in the fall of 1989 wi 11 be held at the school on Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 15. Registration will be by appointment only, from 9 a.m.-1 2:30 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Appointments may be made by calling the school (987-8259).
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Early admission requests may be made for children whose fifth birthday falls between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31. Parents will be counseled about the advisability of early admission, and the child will be tested to determine his readiness for kindergarten. A final decision by the school will be based on the results of the state-approved test.
Thursday, March 16 will be reserved in case additional admission appointments are necessary. However, Principal Bernard Chesshir emphasized, “in order that proper planning be done for material and staffing, it is essential that all prospective kindergarten children be registered on March 14 and 15. Any questions should be addressed to the school."
Class of ’64 plans reunion
The Rappahannock County High School's Class of 1964 is tentatively planning its 25th reunion in early June. Members of the class are urged to contact Mike Brown (703-987-8027) or Frank Moffett (703-675-3259) for further information as soon as possible. “This will be a very special occasion," Mr. Moffett said, "and we hope that all members of the class and their families will be able to attend." '
‘How to buy a house’ The Piedmont Board of Realtors will sponsor a series of free classes for prospective home buyers, beginning Wednesday, March 15. The first session will cover financing options and mortgages; the second class (March 22) will focus on what to look for in a prospective property, and will feature a housing inspector and termite examiner as guest speakers. On March 29, investment property and buying in advance for retirement will be the topic of discussion. The fourth class will examine real estate contracts, including what to look for and what to beware of. The classes will be held from 7-9 p.m. at Piedmont Technical Education Center, located on Route 15 south of Culpeper. For more information, or to register, call PTEC (703 825-0476).
