losses on an individual stand of eligible seedlings must be more than 35 percent after adjustment for normal seedling mortality. Reimbursement will be made for 65 percent of the adjusted loss which exceeds the 35 percent threshold.
Tree assistance payment may only be made to farmers who own 1,000 acres or less of commercial trees, and who have less than $2 million in annual gross income, Ms. Henry said. Trees covered include those planted for wood production, fruit, nuts, syrup and Christmas trees.
Requests for assistance will be accepted at the local ASCS office through June 30.
