Tree assistance payment may only be made to farmers who own 1,000 acres or less of commercial trees, and who have less than $2 million in annual gross income, Ms. Henry said. Trees covered include those planted for wood production, fruit, nuts, syrup and Christmas trees.

Requests for assistance will be accepted at the local ASCS office through June 30.
