linked to pesticide use,” reported the Conservation Council of Virginia last week. The announcement came one week after the Virginia General Assembly approved the establishment of a State Pesticide Control Board.
The board will be responsible for monitoring and regulating pesticide use. Thus far, little record keeping has been required for pesticide use in Virginia, according to the CC’VA, although an estimated 6.5 million pounds of active ingredients are used in the state annually.
HOV lanes
HOV drivers who whiz by in the high-occupancy vehicle lane without the legal number of passengers — beware. Flashing red lights may not trail illegal HOV drivers. The ticket may instead appear unexpectedly at home in the mail box.
The state General Assembly approved legislation which permits highway patrolmen to mail summonses to HOV offenders. Under the new law, the owner of the automobile is presumed to be the driver.
Semi-trailer length
