Lane said, “I feel about 150 pounds lighter. But by no means are we deceased. I will care as much about Rappahannock County for ail my days on this earth. This is the most beautiful place in the World — especially from a land use, planning point of view. It is a wonderful rural, agrarian county."

Mr. Lane’s resignation became effective at the close of Monday’s meeting. The Board of Supervisors set a public hearing on Thursday, March 23, at the courthouse at 7:30 pm., to take public comment on an interim appointment to fill the Stonewall-Hawthorn District seat.

The supervisors will appoint an interim supervisor, who will serve until a special election in November. The appointee must be a legal resident of Stonewall-Hawthorn District. The public is encouraged to attend the hearing and offer suggestions.
