Every year, the members invite their friends to contribute to this show as well, in a decided departure from the gallery’s usual theme and solo exhibits.

“This is when we really reach out to our friends around the country, and our local friends, too, to exhibit what they’re doing,” Ms. Marshall explained.

“It’s really wild — we say, hey, you’re my friend, send us a painting! It’s worked out really well,” she added.

Although the gallery’s exhibit space was recently reduced to two small rooms, clever arrangement allowed a good-sized opening night crowd to view an exceptional variety of photographs, paintings, sculptures and textile works, comfortably.
