Lane resigns

as supervisor

By LOU HATTER

Rappahannock News Staff Writer

Citing his intent to move to Colorado, Nelson Lane resigned Monday from the county’s Board of Supervisors.

The second term representative from StonewallHawthorn District told his fellow board members that he and his wife Neecee have found a ranch there, “and we are needing to make an offer on this property soon or risk losing it.”

In a telephone interview Wednesday morning, Mr. Lane called the timing of his announcement, “a bad coincidence," coming less than a month after he pleaded guilty in Culpeper County to a misdemeanor charge of tampering with a telephone. “I’m sure as hell not running from Rappahannock County — I’m running toward a new opportunity,” he added.
