Rappahannock switched to a zone defense midway through the first period and regained offensive composure for an 11-10 lead off a layup by Julian Groves. Dunn converted a three-point play at the end of the opening period for a 19-12 lead.
By the second quarter the Panthers had settled down on offense and began making nice, crisp passes. RCHS hit five of the opening seven shots on route to a 32-22 lead.
