nock County from Amarillo, Texas in 1978. He was appointed to the county’s school board in 1980. and represented Stonewall-Hawthorn District there until he ran for the supervisor’s seat vacated by H. R. Wood in 1983. He was re-elected to a second term on the board in 1987.
He cited his family’s love for the west as one of the reasons for his decision to resign and leave the county. Mr. Lane travels to the west on hunting trips several times each year. “We’ve always missed that part of the country,” he said Wednesday, "but this is the first time I’ve been tempted to this point."
