Farming today requires good record keeping.
Chemical application is an area where farmers often overlook or understate their chemical application records. Poor pesticide performance and/or drift damage claims will require excellent records.
Records should include, but not be limited to:
• date and time
• chemical name, place purchased and manufacturer
• rate of application and amount of water
• temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and ground moisture
• sprayer speed, nozzle size and pressure
Worn nozzles can cause inaccurate chemical application and the resulting poor performance of chemicals. Wear of nozzles is normal and can be expected to occur. As the tips wear and enlarge, it is possible to over-apply chemicals and waste money.
