Bruce Wettoroth, a friend of gallery member Dan Lewis, took a particularly fresh approach to art with his framed gem intarsia.
Wettoroth has a degree in geology, and said that he also uses his intarsia to create one-of-a-kind lipstick cases for a cosmetic company.
Examples of fiber artistry, computer graphics; ironwork, pottery and watercolors help to round out the unusual exhibit.
“For a lot of these people, it’s the first time they’ve shown,” said Ms. Marshall. The gallery has gained a reputation for hosting such debuts.
With few exceptions, all of the pieces on display are for sale, although, as the board president put it, “The sales are secondary. Our primary purpose is to contribute to the soul.”
She added that as a rule, the gallery strives for “innovation, experimentation and quality.”
