Story hour at Library

Beahm-Bolen reunion planned

Descedants, friends and relatives are invited to the sixth annual George Washington and Nancy Bolen Beahm family reunion Sunday, Sept. 3, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Rappahannock Park on Route 211 near Washington. Ruritan auction planned

The Ammissville Ruritan Club is planning an auction for Saturday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Amissville fire hall. Proceeds will benefit the Ruritans Community building. Donations are requested. Luncheon and bake sale

'Bird'

The movie Bird will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 19 and 20 at 8 p.m. each evening. The movie stars Forrest Whitaker and Diane Venora. Clint Eastwood’s portrait of the great alto sax player Charlie “Yardbird” Parker, that captures Bird’s playfulness and irony. Whitaker’s performance is dazzling because it links Parker’s personality to the more elegant side of his playing; and Venora does well too as his clever and nobly forebearing wife. Parker’s solos have been extracted from old recording sessions and mixed with modem backup. The movie is rated R. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.

Class reunion planned

The class of 1974 will hold their reunion on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at Rappahannock County High School. Cost is $10 per person. For more information call 987-8034.

Jenkins reunion planned

The annual reunion of the relatives and friends of the late Luther E. and Ada F. Jenkins will be held Aug. 27 at the picnic area of Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria; from 11 a.m. until dark. Those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch which will be served at 1 p.m.

Family reunion time again

The annual family reunion of the late Henry T. Wharton and Lillie M. Cloude will be held at the Rappahannock Recreation Park, Washington on Saturday, Sept. 9. “Come one, come all, bring a picnic lunch and join right in, everyone welcome, come and enjoy, this reunion is for family and friends,” said a reunion spokesperson.

Hatha Yoga classes to begin

Carwash at CCLC

The After School Club of The Child Care and Learning Center will be sponsoring a car wash at CCLC on Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cars will be washed for $2. The money raised will benefit the School Age Summer Camp program. “Please bring us your cars,” said a CCLC spokesperson.
