The patronizing tone of your most editorial suggests a certain impatience with those who took offense at the recent "drug bust” in Rappahannock County.
Apparently it is enough for you that the law was enforced; anyone unhappy urith the arrest should talk to his congressman before bothering the local newspaper. (I would guess that anyone upset enough about an issue to wrrite to an editor, has already written to his representatives in congress. Also, since many people read the newspaper, including legislators, a letter printed in a newspaper might easily have more impact than a letter to a congressman. That impact, if I am not mistaken, is one of the reasons we have letters to the editor.)
Two things bother me about this particular incident; they have nothing to do writh the legal status of drugs.
First, I do not like the idea of routine police or military surveillance of my home and my private activities. If the police have probable cause, let them get a search warrant and investigate. The constitution provides protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, and I consider it unreasonable to have National Guard helicopters buzzing
