plans drive
To set the stage for the forthcoming annual fundraising for the Rappahannock Unit of the 'American Heart Association in February, a luncheon meeting was held Nov. 27 at the home of Eino Siira, chairman of the Residential Campaign.
The District Captains attending the meeting were: Jackson District, Dr. Gil Webb; Hampton District, Lillian Aylor; Hawthorne District, Lucia Kilby; Piedmont District, Edna Metzinger. Maybelle Gilkey, district captain of Wakefield District, was not present at the luncheon. A special kick-off dinner for all the local door-to-door volunteers will be held Jan. 24, 1990, at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington. Details of the dinner and program will be annoucned later, according to Jon Heddleston, president of the Rappahannock Unit.
“Heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure afflict more than 40 million Americans and are responsible for half of all the deaths in this country,” said Mr. Heddleston. “We need volunteers and contributions urgently to help in the fight for your life and ask that you give generously when a volunteer calls on you,” he emphasized.
