County farmers may sign up through Dec. 22 for annual or longterm agreement for conservation practices to be carried out in 1989 (and future years if long-term agreement).
Requests must be made on an application form, available at the county ASCS office, by Dec. 22 and before a practice is started.
The following practices are eligible for cost-share through ASCS: establishing or improving permanent vegetative cover, livestock watering facilities, sod waterways, planting or improving forest trees and animal waste facilities. “Emphasis is on saving the most soil, so sign up on the area of your farm that is causing the most soil erosion,” an ASCS spokesman emphasized.
