Marion Eastham of
Amissville has been named the DAR Good Citizen at Rappahannock County High School. This recognition is awarded a senior girl who is outstanding in leadership, dependability, service and patriotism. Miss Eastham is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Eastham.
The Rush River Company craftsmen cooperative on Gay Street in Washington, is having its third annual Christmas open house on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festive day will feature a number of special events: June Jordan’s newly created pottery birdforms will be highlighted in the gallery setting of the shed along with a new kiln load of her functional pieces.

Following an executive (private)
session on Dec. 3, the Board of Supervisors announced plans to contruct a “modulartype” animal shelter on the property of animal warden Jack Bruce. The announcement was made by Supervisor Hubert Gilkey III, who, with Supervisor Nelson Lane, forms the Animal Shelter-Landfill committee.
Rappahannock County Schools are scheduled to practice emergency evacuation of school buses on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. In the instance of inclement weather, the practice will take place on the following day, Dec. 13. The bus-evacuation practice is necessary to comply with Virginia Department of Education guidelines for emergency procedures.
