The supervisors indicated they couldn’t.
‘'Well, the 10-acre plan seems to guarantee it will stay in 10 acres forever,” Mr. Johnson said.
Jackson District Supervisor Ellis Bingham, who represents the Amissville area, asked the other supervisors for their opinions.
“When we adopted the zoning ordinance, we were asked for R-2 and RR down there,” Wakefield Supervisor Hubert Gilkey said. “If we take away these R-2 lots, somewhere adjacent someone is going to want R-2 lots.”
“I understand your concern,” Mr. Reynolds said. “The whole north and west side is surrounded by two-acre zoning. It is more likely some subsequent owner will say the whole thing is suitable for R-2 development, and 131 acres in two-acre zoning is a lot of houses.”
“Pete, I’d like to hear comments from you,” Col. Bingham said, referring to county attorney Peter Luke.
