One workshop lead to another and then another before Mrs. Richey said she “got serious” and entered a program with the University of Maryland. Before long, Mrs. Richey was a post-graduate in Paris studying impressionist and post-impressionist. “I knew then, painting is what I wanted to do.”
A member of Middle Street Gallery and vice-president of the cooperative in 1989, Mrs. Richey said she seemed to “gravitate toward other artists” and picked Washington for her first gallery due to the local art interest and the community support.
“It’s a little larger than I had intended,” she said of the gallery, “but, I’m working it out.”
