The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service announced that Conservation Reserve Program bids will be accepted only for contracts beginning in 1991 and bid acceptance determinations will be made after a nationwide review and evaluation. Selection will be based on the environmental benefits received from placing the land in the CRP when compared to dollars of cost.
Eligible cropland for enrollment in the CRP includes cropland that is planted or considered planted to produce an agricultural commodity, including alfalfa and other multi-year grasses and legumes grown in rotation as determined, by the secretary in two of the five crop years 1986 through 1990.
