Two Thursdays ago, Bernice Welch of“ Flint Hill mistakenly threw away that amount of cash, then returned to the dumpster site a few hours later to search for it in, vain. She could tell someone had beat her toj it, and had chalked it up as one of life’s more expensive lessons.
“I was mad at myself,” said Mrs. Welch. “After I was sick about it for a couple hours I said to myself, ‘Well, that’s a costly lesson, but you learned one.’ ”
