As Friday afternoon brought another scorching day with temperatures in the 90s, Rappahannock extension agent Tommy Williams said, “things are getting dry. We could use a few cool days of rain at this point but we are OK.”
Rainfall for the year so far measures 20.74 inches while last year, even with a very wet May, rainfall measured only 18 inches for the first five months and three days of the year.
“Last May we recorded 6.71 inches of rain,” Mr. Wingfield said with laughter. This May he recorded just 3.86 inches of rain.
