The supervisors held a public hearing — and nobody came.
No member of the public spoke at Monday evening’s public hearing for public comment on the county’s upcoming budget, so the supervisors proceded with a work session on the budget, and as a result of changes they made in the fiscal 1992 budget, revenues for the coming year are expected to increase by $6,000 and expenditures should decrease by nearly $72,000.
That means the surplus for next year will increase to $330,000.
At last week’s budget work session, Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham asked to have the building fees increased by 15 percent so the building office would be selfsupporting. The advertised budget estimated $41,000 would be received in building permit fees. At present $48,640 is budgeted for costs of building inspection.
