All air conditioners in both schools and School Board offices — with the exception of the computer rooms — were turned off. I personally deem it ignorant to abstain from using what little air conditioning \ye have at our disposal.
It is a mere case of jealousy if the simple knowledge of someone else in a cooler temperature can cause students to zealously parade out into ah even greater heat.
The air conditioning in the offices is there for several reasons: The office personnel work year-round aqjJ have longer days, the studentt working day is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. and the office personnel start at approximately 8a.m. and sometimSfe their work extends past 5 p.m.
Sick students seek refuge in places with a more preferable temperature before returning home, and considering that air conditioners fiJJeach class can’t be afforded they placed them in areas of great public use. *
Parents come into the offices for conferences as well as other public officials. ’
The idiocy of the action resulted in a large group of heat stroked students returning to the school wanting to call their parents so that they could return home. If common sense had been in use and not weak group leadership perhaps the students would have protested in an air conditioned office.
