Approximately $46,000 was cut from the budget for the jail. This would have paid for two cooks and a process server, but these positions were cut by the state compensation board. Mr. McCarthy said the sheriff believes he can operate the kitchen with inmate help.
At last week’s budget session and at Monday night’s public hearing on the budget, the board requested that accountant Wally Cox get together with the Library Board representatives and Treasurer Frances Foster to work out an arrangement for seeing to it that assets held for investment by the Library Board are handled so that the treasurer has some control over them.
