“Hail can tear up fruit trees and knock down grain and other crops,” he said, adding a few days of rain would be better.
So far, June has obliged the need for rain. During the first three days of June, the county received 2.34 inches or rain, compared to June 1990 when the rainfall measured just 1.98 inches in 30 days.
“So far this June we are running seven degrees warmer in the daytime and 15 degrees warmer at night,” Mr. Wingfield said, adding it seems “June has said, ‘Just look what I can do, May.’ ”
