CURRIE Rappahuinork Neva SUIT WriUr The cool morning rain Monday brought relief to schoolchildren, homeowners and farmers alike as the heat wave that gripped the county for the last 11 days moved aside. “May of 1991, compared to May 1990, had a daytime temperature 8.4 degrees warmer and a nightime temperature 5.4 degrees warmer,” said weather watcher Dennis Wingfield in Sperryville. “That makes each day in May seven degrees warmer than last [year],” he said. And while the cool rain fell Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evenings, temperatures still rose over the 90 degree mark. “We had 16 days this May with temperatures 80 degrees or higher,” Mr. Wingfield said.
