A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Luther A. and Dolly Carder Wayland.
Mr. Wayland was a veteran of World War II, in which he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He was a fanner.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Mildred Brown Wayland; a twin brother, Lester A. Wayland of Woodville; and two sisters, Dorothy W. Williams of Culpeper and Annie Poe of Cary, N.C. He was preceded in death by another sister, Elsie Eaheart.
A funeral was held Saturday, June 1 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper, the Rev. Welford Deppen officiating, assisted by the Rev. Carl Menefee, with interment in Woodville Cemetery.
Geest-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
