for AIDS kids
Several years ago, Ellen Ahlgren, a 70-year-old grandmother in New Hampshire, moved by the plight of hospitalized babies and toddlers with HIV/AIDS, started a project called ABC quilts, AIDS Babies Crib Quilts. Now Rappahannock quilters have joined the effort.
There has been nationwide interest and participation in this project. Women from our area, including Shiloh and Shenandoah Associations Women’s Missionary Unions, and other friends and neighbors, have made 331 quilts.
They have been delivered to St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Silver Spring, Md. for distribution to area hospitals and to children in foster care.
