Library has
been moved
To the Editor:
Saturday was an exciting day for the Rappahannock Public Library. In only about eight hours, the contents of the old library were moved to the new.
More than 16,000 books, plus furniture, supplies, and sundry equipment, were loaded into trucks of all sizes, cars and vans, by an assortment of volunteers, too numerous to mention by name.
All was accomplished under the direction and planning of the library professional and volunteer staff and the supervision of Col. Dieter Knuepfer, representing the Library Board.
We wish especially to thank the Brotherhood of St. Andrews, the Lion’s Club, Friends of the Library, a variety of interested men and women, individual volunteers, Sheriff John Henry Woodward, his deputies, and the residents and nonresidents under his supervision.
The task was accomplished in typical Rappahannock spirit of collaboration, ftin, and hard work.
There remains much to be done while the library is closed over the next two weeks to prepare for the opening on June 24.
The Board of Trustees thanks those many contributors whose continuing efforts have made a moving day possbile, but also those who actually accomplished the move and have therefore set the stage for what we believe can become the best small library in Virginia.
