While here they enjoyed a visit with Sam and Katherine Riley. Mrs. Riley recalled his being in her Sunday School class at Amissville Baptist. Also, Dot and Roy Whorton recognized him at Country Cookin one day. Bill recalled going to school with Allan Poe, whom he believes may live in Warrenton.
Since retiring, Bill and Lois have been doing volunteer work with Wycliff Bible translators based in Waxhaw, near Charlotte, N.C.
There is a large training facility there, including training pilots. Since Lois is a licensed ham radio operator, she works with communications between missionaries and their families here in the states. The base has a 610 acre site where retirement apartments are being built by all volunteers. The facility includes an air base and computer translation equipment among its numerous services.
