He also stayed with the family of Berl Frank Bywaters for about a year and a half, when he was about 14. He believes Berl’s son, Dick Bywaters, may live in Warrenton.
When Bill retired two years ago as an engineer with the U.S. Forest Service in Washington he came back to the area to locate his family. He was reunited with his three brothers following a 40-year absence. Brother Cleveland lives in Culpeper, Clarence in Fredericksburg and James in Bealeton. (James Bailey in Rixeyville is a first cousin). They had a sister Mary who married Elwood Woodward and lived in Rixeyville.
Bill and Lois Bailey’s daughter is so excited for them. She said its like a big void has been filled in their life.
They are grateful to his. niece Shirley and Bill Settle for their kindness in allowing them to park their “Fifth Wheeler” in their yard while they continue putting the pieces together of his childhood.
