Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC), we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those persons who helped make The RAAC Casino Night fundraiser, held last Saturday night at the Briargate Bed and Breakfast in Huntly, such a rousing success.
Because of the volunteer efforts of the dozens of people who took time from their busy schedules to help us, RAAC’s fundraiser was not only profitable, but everyone involved had a wonderful time. Many persons have asked us to repeat the event next year.
There is always the risk when we thank people by name that we will forget someone; however, we think it is important that volunteers be recognized, so we will take the chance.
Particular thanks must go to the Food Committee for RAAC, which has operated so efficiently and superlatively in the past. Their contributions to Casino Night exceeded all their previous efforts, and particular thanks must go to Pat Fillebrown, Dot Mank, and Katherine Treanor for their organization and their hard work. Pat Ahem and Hugo Perez, owners of Briargate, opened their beautiful home to us, and the preparations and decorations that they did on their own made the evening even more enjoyable.
The casino dealers were so professional that you would think it was their chosen calling. They were Walter Day, Phil Smith, Kevin Day, Nick Raymond, Ronald Dodson, Betty Mahoney, Mike Mahoney, Dan Lewis, and Brian Stephen.
Our bartenders, Gene Lyman and Todd Morgan, kept everything flowing. Sid Mank was ever-present during the entire event, pitching in to lend a hand everywhere he was needed.
The food that was contributed by many persons in the community, and we wish we had the time to mention them all, was plentiful and delicious.
Without all these people, we could never have pulled off the, event, and we hope that you will express your gratitude to these people when you see them. We intend to place an ad in this paper this week thanking each of the persons or businesses who donated valuable items for the auction that was held immediately after the other Casino Night festivities. Once again, we thank all of our supporters, and we thank all those people who came to Casino Night and made it such a success.
