Thus, its support and inspiration by the Council of All Beings, a group of ecologically minded persons who find answers and energy for direction of feelings about the Earth and all its inhabitants through meditation, workshops and enviromental awareness periods.
“ ‘Standing on Fishes’ was inspired by John Seed when he visited Minnesota,” local director for the event, Hunt Harris, said.
Mr. Harris explained that Mr. Seed, an Australian enviromentalist and founder of the Rainforest Information Center, met Ms. Boesing through the Council of All Beings.
“This is more an educational experience than a pure artistic endeavor,” Mr. Harris said, adding the play calls for audience participation during the event and creates “such an extreme of emotion that even someone who is not familiar with the environmental issues of today sees deeper into the problem while those interested in the play purely as art may see how art can be instrumental in in bringing about change on a social level.”
As part of the weekend event, a maskmaking workshop for children is offered from 10 a.m. until noon at the Child Care and Learning Center in Washington.
The cast from “Standing on Fishes” will conduct the workshop for children from 5 to 7 years old.
