Big Branch

Improvements to the U.S. 211Business bridge over Big Branch just south of Washington will begin in mid-June.
DLB Inc., of Hillsville, was awarded a $175,976 contract by the Commonwealth Transportation Board in May to widen the bridge and repair abutments.
The contractor has 120 days in which to complete the work. Days on which rain or other inclement weather occurs are not counted as work days.
During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane across the bridge. Stop signs will require all vehicles to come to a complete stop before crossing the bridge from either direction.
Todd Atkins of the Warrenton residency will be the project inspector to insure complaince with contract specifications and will serve as project safety officer.
DLB crews will be working within an existing 80-foot Virginia Department of Transportation right of way. The bridge will be widened to the upstream side.
