When all the shopping, adding^ and subtraction was complete, the; clerk had to bag the groceries. Natu-~ rally, one of the first clerks in thi^ math lesson knew to ad lib “WoulcC you prefer paper or plastic?” 0£ course this brought a chorus ok laughter from the students and Mrs.* Roszak as well.
As the lesson progressed, not^ only did math skills excel, but social skills did also. The students were reminded to say “please” and “thank | you” and to be courteous to others, ' Also an encouragement to partici| pate and a praise for “a job well , done” became not only the job of the ’ teacher but of the fellow students. , It was obvious from the excite-; 1 ment and the smiles this lesson was | well received
