Farm Show slated this weekend
Kids and adults from Rappahannock, Culpeper and Madison county farms will be competing for ribbons at the tri-county Farm Show on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28.
Saturday night is "down-home night," featuring a pretty cow contest, a piglet costume contest, hog catching, hog calling, an auction and a farmer's tan contest. The Orange-based band Just Country will perform from 7 p.m.10 p.m.
Sunday afternoon, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m., will be "farm fun day." A mixture of games, music, special events and rides will be offered. The 4-H dog show starts at noon, the pet show begins at 2 p.m. and beef showmanship starts at 5 p.m.
Other Sunday events include the hay bale toss, a blacksmith demonstration, sheep shearing, cow milking, hayrides, a petting zoo, an apple cider press, an old sawmill, horseshoes, and cow Bingo.
The weekend ends with a Burger Bash to benefit the Farm Show from 4 p.m.-7 p.m.

Saturday SHARE food delivery
The SHARE delivery of foodstuffs will be held from 9:30 a.m.-10 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Washington Baptist Church. Note that this is earlier than last month.
Participants should bring their community service vouchers and $13 in cash or food stamps to sign up for August.
Rabies clinic in Washington
A rabies clinic is scheduled for 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday, July 27 in the Washington Fire Hall. At a cost of $5 per animal, Dr. F.M. Graves will vaccinate cats and dogs. The Treasurer's Office is open for the sale of dog tags as well.
