She has run twice as an Independent, in 1978 and 1983, both times unopposed. Although the term is eight years, she ran in 1978 to fill the remainder of Mr. Jones’ term. No one has announced an intention to oppose her this year, but the filing deadline is September.
Actjve in local civic and community groups, Ms. Bruce attends all meetings of the county Board of Supervisors in her capacity as clerk and many meetings of Washington town government as an interested community member.
She has served in several capacities at Trinity Episcopal Church, helped found the Rappahannock Recreation Authority, helped found the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community and sits on the board of the Child Care and Learning Center and on the Board of Trustees of the Fauquier Hospital Foundation.
She is single and lives in the Town of Washington.
