CALL FOR THE RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY MASS MEETING OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF VIRGINIA

I, Walter Longyear, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Republican Committee and in accordance with the provisions of the Virginia Republican Party Plan, hereby call for a Mass Meeting of the Republican voters of Rappahannock County to be held at the County Court House, Cay Street, Washington, VA., on Monday, August 12, 1991, at 7:30 P.M.

All legal and qualified voters under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord witn the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting, either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of the Republican Party's nominees for public office in the upcoming election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its Mass Meetings, Party Canvasses, Conventions or Primaries encompassing their respective Election Districts.

The purpose of the Mass Meeting is elect delegates to nominate a Republican candidate for the office of U.S. Representative for the election being held November 5, 1991. A majority vote of all voters participating in the Mass Meeting shall be required for a person to be elected delegate to the nominating convention. Said convention will take place on Sunday, August 2S, 1991 at 3:00 P.M.at the Charlottesville Performing Arts Center, 1400 Melbourne Road, Charlottesville, VA.

Registration for the Mass Meeting. Registration at the Mass Meeting site shall take place on the day of the Mass Meeting starting at 7:00 P.M. and shall close no later than 7:30 P.M. All persons who are in line at 7:30 P.M. to be registered for the Mass Meeting, but who are not yet registered, shall be allowed to complete their registration. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO JOIN A REGISTRATION LINE AFTER 7:30 P.M. All persons wishing to participate in the Mass Meeting may be asked to produce a valid form of identification in order to properly identify themselves as a registered voter in Rappahannock County.

Eiling for Convention Delegates. All persons who desire to be elected delegate for this August 25, 1991 Seventh District Convention are required to pre-file in writing their intention for candidacy with the County Chairman, Walter Longyear,

Mt' Salem Avenue, P.O. Box 124, Washington, VA 22747 no later than 6;0°PM-on August 10, 1991. Only those who so pre-file may stand for nomination at this Mass Meeting. A S10 registration fee payable to "Rappahannock County Republican Party is required of each delegate and alternate to the convention.

Jhe registration fee shall be paid by check or money order at the time of the Mass Meeting. Applications for delegate to the convention shall be valid for all family members if so stated. Applications do not need to be accompanied by the required registration fee but they are due at the Mass Meeting. One check for all family members filing for delegate is acceptable. The registration fee will be returned to anyone not chosen as a delegate to the conventions.

Filing for Candidates. All candidates who desire to be nominated at this August 25, 1991 Seventh District Convention for Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives to represent the Seventh Congressional District of Virginia, to be voted on in a Special Election, November S, 1991 are required to pre-file in writing their intention for candidacy with the District Chairman, June Funkhouser, P.O. Box 37, Somerset, VA 22972 no later than 6:00 P.M. on August 12, 1991. Only those who so pre-file may stand for nomination at this District Convention.

Composition of Conventions. The Seventh District Convention for Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives shall be composed of delegates of the respective units. The basis for prescribing delegate voting strength for each unit for the respective conventions shall be one vote for every 500 1988 Bush-Quayle votes plus 1989 Coleman Votes cast or major fraction thereof. A delegation to the conventions may not have more than five (5) delegates per delegate vote, or no delegate may have less than 0.20 vote. The full vote rule will apply at each of the conventions.

The Mass Meeting will also consider and act upon any other business that may properly come before the Mass Meeting.
