“It’s the time we rev-up and get ready for the children to return,” she said, adding school day interruptions keep work at a standstill.
“There are so many things the younger children cannot do for themselves,” she said, adding for this reason her work goes often unattended on her busy desk.
Her summer begins much like Mrs. Settle’s, with packing and unpacking and bookwork with new students from kindergarten to seventh grade.
“It may take the parents 15 minutes to register a student,” she said — but the bookwork that follows can take hours for Mrs. Kidwell.
Paperwork on paperwork is what devours the time for secretaries.
There are forms to be created, forms that need to be completed and forms that have to filed.
“Summer is not easier than the school year,” she said of her work load. “It just does not have the interruptions.”
