Wood Show roots go back year
One year ago, cabinetmaker Mark Pace approached the Middle Street Artists' Cooperative with the idea of showcasing the woodworking talent in the area.
Artists who worked with wood were interested in joining forces with craftsmen to explore the functional and expressive medium of wood.
The Wood Show, running during August at the gallery on Middle Street in Washington, was born.
Curated by Mr. Pace and Middle Street artists Dan Lewis and Janet Kerig, the show will be judged by Williamsburg Foundation director of conservation Wallace Gusler.

Counselor speaks on spirituality
Rappahannock counselor and psychology writer Toni White will speak on "Create Your Life: An Introduction to Practical Spirituality," 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, June 28 at Organic Harvest/New Leaf Books in Warrenton.
Workshop participants will be guided in the use of spiritual techniques that help one discover inner vision and manifest one's heart's desire. Participants should bring a pillow, blanket and notebook.
Ms. White holds a bachelor's degree in psychology.
To Hell with Uncle' at Middle St.
"To Hell with Uncle (The Gateway to My Personal Myth)," a one-person show by member artist Tanya Richey, runs through July at the Middle Street Gallery and Artists' Cooperative in Washington, Va.
The works on display are mixedmedia on various surfaces and feature a series of paintings leading Mrs. Richey into the gateway of her personal myth.
