Ms. Bruce said she enjoys the job and, as a native, takes particular interest in seeing the county run smoothly and grow sensibly. She also enjoys working with people, particularly the legal community and Judge Robertson.

“Judge Robertson I think is one of the finest, most open-minded men I have ever met. He is wonderful to work with and to work for. When I talk to my fellow clerks abound the state I see how lucky we are in this circuit. Not all of my . fellow clerks have it as easy as I do,” she said.

Working well with Judge Robertson is particularly important, considering that he sits in Warrenton, and papers and appointments need to be shuffled efficiently.

“We do as well as anyone getting the paperwork out, despite being 25 miles from the nearest judge,” she said.

Besides liking her job, Ms. Bruce gives the following assessment of her office: “I really think I’m the most qualified person in Rappahannock to do this job. ”

Then adds: “On experience alone.”
