Stonewall-Hawthom Districtrepresentative Sharon Pierce said,-* “Family apartments are supposed tobe accessory buildings. They are not!designed to stand alone, but to meet' the need of a dependent family member. When we get up to this size, it is the size of an average house. ”
Wakefield District represent^-; tive Werner Krebser added, “Years ago they had to be next door and connected by a breezeway.”
Ms. Pierce said, “We’re slowly moving away from the original in-' tent.”
Hampton District representative John Clark Jr. said, “We don’t want to see these things get big enough stv that you later rent to a family of fotflj and put two more children in the schools.”
The members agreed to support an amendment that would increase the size allowed to 1,200 square feet including any storage space. A family apartment built into a pre-existr ing storage building, such as a barp could be 1,200 square feet without the restriction on storage space. - -
The planners also voted to recommend that the supervisors approve James E. Yates’s subdivision application.
Mr. Yates had originally applied for a four-lot subdivision, but a slope analysis showed that his acreage would only allow three lots. '*
A 6.4-acre lot was merged with a 12.1-acre lot on the original plat to reduce the application to three lots. '
