lion” cupcakes that comprise the town’s birthday cake. The Rappahannock Animal Rescue League, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community and the Child Care and Learning Center will hold a “T-shirt Bazaar,” selling their groups’ shirts to raise funds.
This year William Carrigan, who has hosted the Fourth celebration at Avon Hall for 30 years, will present a key to the town. He has placed a covenant on his property that allows the town to stage the Fourth celebration on Avon Hall into perpetuity.
The grand finale of the party will be, of course, the fireworks, set to music for the first time this year.
An abundance of parking will be available at the Fire Hall and at Newbill Miller’s farm at the low cost of $2 per car.
The games, entertainment and fireworks are free.
In case of rain, the party and fireworks will be held on Sept. 1.
