The Board of Zoning Appeals voted to approve a special use permit for Scott McBride to operate a carpentry shop in an outbuilding at his home in Sperryville.
At last Wednesday’s BZA meeting Mr. McBride agreed to restrict his hours of operation to 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, not to use power equipment on weekends except for his own personal use and to limit that to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The BZA also approved Mr. McBride’s sign. They also required that the special use permit not transfer if the property is sold.
Neighbors Roy E. Jenkins and his wife appeared at the hearing. When the Planning Commission considered the application the Jenkinses were not present. The planners voted to recommend that the shop not be operated after 10 p.m.
